Treatment for PSORIASIS & Skin Diseases @ AmruthSParsh
Psoriasis is a non-contagious common skin condition that produces plaques of thickened, scaling skin. It causes rapid skin cell reproduction that results in red, dry flaky patches of thickened skin. The skin scales and dry fakes are thought to be result of excessive rapid proliferation of skin cells. The build up of skin cells is triggered by inflammatory chemicals that are produced by white blood cells known as T-lymphocytes. The spectrum of psoriasis could range from limited small area of the body to large affecting the entire skin. Though, it is seen that the disease commonly affects the skin of scalp, elbows and knees.
Ayurveda has been a great help in treating various skin related diseases in the past 3000 years. It generally comprises of a special diet, medical practices and herbal compounds. Ayurveda tells that Psoriasis is caused due to the imbalance of two doshas – Vata (flow and motion in body) and kapha (structure and fluid balance in body). It believes that the manifesting of vata and kapha dosha results in the accumulation of toxins in the body. Then these toxins reach deep tissues like rakta (blood), lasika (lymphatic), rasa (nutrient plasma) and mamsa (muscles) which leads to contamination of deeper tissues, ultimately causing Psoriasis. Ayurveda sees it as a seed which could grow up into a tree causing a greater problem if not solved at an early stage. Psoriasis also known as kushtha in Ayurveda does arise in the skin at first but soon invades other tissues as well in a course of time. In case of this skin disease, the purification of one’s blood and tissues are generally done. The digestion is monitored and restored to prevent further accumulation while removing those harmful toxins from the body. Specific nourishing medicated herbs are then used to strengthen and tone the tissues to heal the skin.
